Morocco and its location:

Morocco, officially the Kingdom of Morocco is a Northern African country, located in the extreme northwest of Africa on the edge of continental Europe. And it borders the Mediterranean sea to the northward and the North Atlantic Ocean to the westward. A narrow passage of water connecting two seas or or two large areas of water of Gibraltar separates Spain off Morocco with a span of 8.1 miles.

Marrakech’s Medina a huge complex market of medieval quarter offers entertainment in its Djemaa el-Fna Square ans Souks selling ceramics, jewellery and metal. The capital Rabat’s Kasbah of the Udayas is a 12th-century royal fort overlooking the water.

Flag of Morocco was adopted on 17th November 1915. A red field with the green pentagram, a five-pointed linear star. Red has considerable historic significance in Morocco, proclaiming the decline from the royal Alaouite dynasty. This ruling house was connected with the Islamic prophet Muhammad via Fatimah, the wife of Ali, the fourth Muslim Caliph.

Moroccan Currency The official monetary currency of the kingdom of Morocco is Moroccan Dhiram, which was taken out by the Bank Al-Maghrib, the central bank of Morocco. One of the dhiram is subdivided into 100 centimes. The code for the Moroccan Currency is Dhirams (MAD) and the symbol is dh. Few tourist places they do accept euros, US dollars and sterling pounds as last choice but the Moroccan currency is required for everyday use.

Rabat is the capital city of Morocco and its second biggest city. Marrakesh is the third biggest urban center in Morocco after Casablanca and Rabat. Casablanca is by far the biggest of all Moroccan cities, and one of the most important urban centers in all of North Africa.

The two official languages are Modern Standard Arabic and Berber. Moroccan Arabic known as Darija is the spoken native vernacular. The languages of prestige in Morocco are Arabic in its Classical and Modern Standard Forms and French.
