I suffer to say at this point that El Arenal is possibly my least favourite of all the resorts on Majorca, and the township itself holds a very strong German influence, with many of the numerous bars and restaurants only targeting the German tourist.
Here in this resort, we would just see anyone who spend British euro. This still could cause inconvenience in such location to shop or stay in. And we marvel how much longer Playa de Palma will be capable to hold out this German invasion.
On the plus side, the beach at Playa de Palma is very popular and shelves gently into the sea and has the internationally recognized blue flag for its facilities, cleanliness, and water quality. Along the other end, we find the litter problem in this refuge.
Lastly, one feature of this stretch of coastline which you cannot fail to miss, is the 15 or so “Balnearios” which cover the full length of the resort.
These Balnearios are small beach huts which usually have toilets, showers and a kiosk selling cold beverages and bites.
